The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Mobile Area Council owns and operates one long term camp, Camp Maubila, which is the council's centerpiece for camping, water sports, and high adventure. The current property is located about one hour and forty minutes from downtown Mobile and encompasses about 680 acres. The property includes a lake for water sports, a swimming pool, one large dining hall, campsites, and facilities for archery, marksmanship, crafts, training, campfires, and nature study.

It also includes a state of the art conference and training facility for weekend conferences used by adult Scouters. More than 75,000 camper days have been logged at Camp Maubila during the past forty years.
